Beldenstratford Hotel
The Belden-Stratford is a first-class hotel located near downtown Chicago, across from Lincoln Park. The hotel is a Chicago landmark and has been completely and beautifully refurbished and enhanced with all the accoutrements of luxury living. The Belden Stratford's idyllic location, across from the Flower Conservatory and Lincoln Park Zoo, puts their guests only steps from the lake and public transportation. The dramatic two-story Grand Lobby reflects exquisite European elegance and is perfectly accented with Empire period furnishings. The guest rooms are luxurious and some feature wrap-around views of the surrounding area. Onsite dining is offered at two of Chicago's - the bistro-style Mon Ami Gabi and the upscale Ambria Restaurant. For recreation, the hotel has an onsite fitness facility and a rooftop sundeck, which overlooks the park and beyond to the lake. The Belden-Stratford is now home to the Vera Volli Spa, which offers a full range of services. The timeless elegance of the Belden-Stratford will remain with you forever. The Belden-Stratford is minutes to fine dining, shopping and entertainment venues.

This site is called "honest hotel reviews" but the information they provide is straight out of an advertising brochure or something. Well, here is the HONEST review. Forget "classic elegance"... this hotel is just plain old. The rooms are small and shabbily decorated. The staff doesn't care about the hotel guests because the building is mostly residential. As far as public transportation goes, I hope you like overcrowded buses, because the closest "L" stop is a 20 minute walk. The restaurants looked nice, but then again the building looks nice if you judge by the lobby. My advice would be to stay at a decent hotel and if you simply must eat at Ambria here then take a cab. This place was probably nice 50 years ago, but now it's a waste of money. Stay downtown instead, you'll be glad you avoided the attitudes.
