Let me start out by saying that this condo has a gorgeous private beach and the owners that we met there were very nice. One of the owners is out on the beach many mornings painting & the folks on the beach can purchase from him. Chris, the head security guard was sweet. That is about the only positive things I have to say. This trip to Hawaii was our first experience exchanging & boy did we learn a lot! We went into the exchange thinking "It's Hawaii, just get us there, we can stay anywhere". BE SELECTIVE w/ your trades! We own at a Hyatt & did not expect that our exchange would be so unequal! Makaha is not a nice neighborhood! We were afraid to go outside the gate on foot for fear of the "tentpeople" everywhere. This condo is not a resort, it's simply a condo, so no fitness facility, restaurants, nothing. It would have been nice if beach chairs were at least available to use. The bed was awful, it was very uncomfortable so we chose to sleep instead on the pull out sofa. The washer & dryer in the unit must have been 20 years old. They were so loud we couldn't use them while we were inside. The dryer never got our things dry. We had mold on the shower curtain. One day mid-week maintenance people showed up, unannounced, to hang mirrors in the bathroom. We didn't need extra mirrors hung - why not do that when the condo isn't occumpied? My husband spent over an hour inside while they were there to keep an eye on them. We were hanging out that day on the beach there so we hadn't bothered to lock up our wallets or anything. These guys could've just walked off w/ them! All our personal hygiene items were on the sink counter & these guys were drilling in there getting dust & who knows what else on our things. When my husband spoke w/ the manager about it, she just walked away. We will never go back. There is nothing to see in Kahana.
