Hyatt House - A Clean & Convenient Good Neighbor Hotel

Updated: Nov 4, 2020

This is easily one of the cleanest hotels I've stayed at in Anaheim...but the beds are hard as a rock!

Pool Area at the Hyatt House Anaheim Resort/Convention Centre

Hello Friends! I hope you're all doing well & staying healthy. In today's review, I’m giving you my honest review of the Hyatt House Hotel on 1800 S Harbor Blvd. This place is about a 12 minute walk to the park and as one of the top rated Good Neighbour hotels on Trip Advisor, we figured we should check it out for ourselves.

Keep in mind, Ben & I stayed at this hotel before COVID-19. Make sure to check with the hotel to find out what precautions they're taking: https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/hotel/california/hyatt-house-at-anaheim-resort-convention-center/anaxa

"The Hyatt House has one of the nicer pool areas in Anaheim...probably in the top 25%"

Overall Experience: 3.5/5

Before we even arrived on property, we had a positive experience. I'd booked a standard room with free cancellation up to 3 days prior to our trip, and a few days before our trip began, I found a deal for one of their family suites that was a CHEAPER!!!! Without any hassle, I was able to change my reservation and save a little cash. Nice!

We arrived at the hotel well before check in time and asked if we could store our luggage and get a key to use the pool area and the wonderfully friendly lady at guest services helped us with that right away. She took our phone number so we would get a text when our room was ready, but that never seems to work for us at any hotel and that was still the case here. Does anyone else experience that or is it just me?

Lobby & bar at the Hyatt House Anaheim

When it comes to location, it doesn’t get much better than this. It is within a 12 minute walk to Disneyland, there is a Starbucks, Blaze pizza and a Walgreens literally steps from lobby and there is a CVS, 7/11 and lots of quick service restaurants within a block of the hotel.

View of Walgreens from the Pool Area

At the end of our stay, we could only give this hotel a 3.5 out of 5 Despite their wonderful location and great staff. I really wish I could give this hotel a higher rating but our room wasn’t ready until well after check in, the beds were super uncomfortable and the water pressure was the most pitiful I have every seen…but I’ll chat about that more later.

Room: 3.94/5

King Bed in the Hyatt House Family Suite

We love how clean and well laid out our room was - especially for it's size. As as a newer hotel the decor and furnishings we're pristine and quite stylish. This suite is made up of a main bedroom with the king bed and an entertainment unit, then a second area with bunk beds, a TV and a pull out couch is separated by pocket doors. The Hyatt House website claims this room sleeps up to 6...but I wouldn't recommend it, especially if you're all adults. If you want to be comfortable, I wouldn't sleep more than two adults and two kids, but you might be able to get away with a little one on the pull out couch.

Although we were impressed with some aspects of the room, there were some major draw backs. First, the beds are HARD AS A ROCK! I'm not the only one who thinks so from reading other reviews. If you like firm mattresses, then I totally recommend this hotel if you can handle the price-tag. My other complaint is the water pressure was PITIFUL. I know California is going through a major drought so I don't mind low pressure but this was the worst water pressure I've ever seen at an Anaheim hotel.

They Family Suite at the Hyatt House had all the in-room amenities you would expect. The bathroom had decent toiletries and a full sized hair dryer, the closet had a safe, iron, ironing board, a luggage stand, loads of hangers and some extra bedding. The entertainment unit had a TV, a nice desk area with lots of places to charge devices, a fridge, coffee machine that actually made a small pot of coffee, and a microwave. And the second sleeping area had a second TV.

Where they went above and beyond was by providing proper glassware including two stemless wine glasses and proper coffee mugs, and a wine bottle opener and hand towel. Areas that could have been improved upon are that the fridge wasn’t very cold, to the point we wouldn’t risk putting anything spoilable in it. The coffee was also pretty meh…but thankfully they serve good coffee at their complimentary breakfast Buffett with is really good. All in all, we gave them a 3.94/5.

Hotel Amenities: 4/5

Pool at the Hyatt House Anaheim

The Hyatt House has one of the nicer pool areas in Anaheim...probably in the top 25% but that is what I would hope for from a hotel priced this high. The pool and hot tub were a little small for the size of the hotel, but they made up for it with tons of room on the pool deck, lots of couches, lounge chairs, umbrellas and they even offered bbq grills which is a really nice feature. My only complaint would be you have to leave the pool area to use the restroom, which means you can't forget your key!

Their fitness centre was adequate and clean and was open 24/7, same with their business centre. They provide a complimentary breakfast buffet and the quality was better than average for the area. They also have a lobby bar and a small market beside the check in desk for food & drinks, however, you will find much better prices at the Walgreens & CVS that are steps from the lobby entrance.

We thought they offered better than average amenities for a Disneyland Good Neighbour hotel, so we gave them a 4 out of 5

Value: 4/5 (If you can get a deal)

Look, the Hyatt House is easily one of the pricier options for a Disneyland Good Neighbour Hotel, but it offers decent value for the price. The breakfast buffet alone can save a large family some major money, plus the convenience of having a Walgreens at your doorstep for water and snacks is bound to save you even more. All in all, we gave them a 4/5 for value.

Overall Rating: 3.86/5

Honestly, this isn’t our favourite hotel in this price range and because of the beds, I don’t know that I would stay here again myself, but it’s definitely better than most of the Disneyland Good Neighbour Hotels. Overall, it really is a good option if you want a more premium hotel within walking distance to the park.
