Cambria Suites Anaheim - The New Kid on the Block at the Disneyland Resort

In this review, I'll give you a step-by-step tour of the resort & their One Bedroom King Family Suite which has TWO SHOWERS?!?!?

Lobby Entrance to the Cambria Resort Anaheim

Hello Disneyland Travelling Friends!!! We hope you are staying safe & healthy during these unprecedented times. If you're anything like me, you've already begun planning your next Disneyland vacation...even if it's well into the future. I like to have something fun to look forward to. Well, the Cambria Suites Anaheim is a great option. Ben & I were actually staying at the Cambria hotel in late January 2020 and decided to come home early because the first few cases were popping up in the SoCal area and we can't take any risks with Ben's health. The hotel was very understanding that we had to leave a couple days early and refunded us our unused nights. HUGE PROPS!!!!!!

This Hotel opened in late 2019 and offers some amazing amenities including one of the best breakfast buffets, an amazing pool area and some great rooms. Keep in mind, we visited this hotel in January 2020 so they may have made some changes due to COVID-19 so you may want to check them out on their website: https://www.cambriasuitesanaheim.com/

"...This hotel is a great option whether you are on a family vacation, a couples retreat or here for business..."

Overall Experience: 4/5

The Cambria Anaheim is one of the more premium, family friendly hotels at the Disneyland Resort. We arrived st 9:30am and were delightfully surprised to find our suite was ready right away and we were also encouraged to take advantage of their complementary breakfast that was still being offered.

This hotel is a great option whether you are on a family vacation, a couples retreat or here for business. The lobby has a full bar that serves food, plenty of space to relax, watch TV, or just have a little time for yourself. The Cambria also has a great pool and activity area.

In the same parking lot as the Cambria are a number of casual restaurants including a Starbucks. From the hotel you are also a 5 minute stroll to Anaheim’s Garden Walk where you will find a number of shopping and dining options.

One mark against them is the location. It is easily a 20 minute walk to the park, so you will likely want to arrange and Uber or Lyft to the park or catch a ride on the Anaheim Resort Transit system. And If you are like us an want to stock up on supplies for your room, the CVS, Walmart or Walgreens are all driving distance to the hotel.

Room: 4/5

We stayed in a One Bedroom Family Suite that had a king bed, a bunk bed that slept 3 and a pull out couch in the main room. In total this room can sleep up to 7 people so it is great for families.

The room had an interesting layout... the kitchenette, pullout couch and TV was in the main room, then the main bedroom with the king bed, bunkbeds and an ensuite bathroom were all in the same room. But the weirdest part was the bathroom which had TWO SHOWERS?!?!?! First you enter a room with vanity and a bath/shower combo. You then a pocket door to the full standup shower and toilet. I'm sure it's great for large families, but since it was just Ben & I, it didn't really add anything to our stay.

The King Bed was very comfortable, it was a slightly firm mattress with very comfortable sheets. Unfortunately the pillows flattened out to pancakes very quickly. All of that being said it was an above average bed for a good night sleep.

We had plenty of places to charge all of our devices, an a good amount of storage for our clothes however the wardrobe was cheaply made an almost impossible to open as the latch was stronger than the flimsy door.

A very important item to take note of is that the kitchenette doesn't have any dishes, glasses or utensils (this was even before COVID-19...but it's probably for the best now anyways). We found this very odd as we assume with a kitchenette of this size these they would have been included. We checked with the front desk and they informed us that they don’t provide them even upon request. On our next stay we will just bring some dish soap and take advantage of the dishes, glassware and utensils at the breakfast buffet or bring our own.

This hotel is right next to a busy freeway, however we were protected from most of the noise. Despite the few minor issues with the room we were very happy with what they offered.

We give the room at the Cambria Hotel a 4/5. For more information please check our our full Room tour and review: https://youtu.be/F9ZphqTLbhk

Hotel Amenities: 4.5/5

There are more amenities at a higher quality at the Cambria Hotel then you will find at most hotels in the Disneyland area.

Pool Area at the Cambria Resort Anaheim

The most impressive amenity is the pool and activity areas. There are multiple pools including a main pool, a kids splash pool, a kids splash pad, 2 waterslides and a large hot tub. Surrounding these pools are a fleet of loungers, cushioned chairs, tables to set up shop and even a number of outdoor couches, some even with a fire gas fire pits that are turned on in the evenings.

In addition they have an outdoor BBQ area next to the pools that will satisfy the chef in you. This amazing area is great if you want to do a pool day that will excite the kids, be in an area where you can relax away from the park, feed your kids some bbq and save a few dollars.

If swimming isn’t your jam they have a half basketball court and even a putting green complete with a mini sand trap. Just inside you will find their fitness centre. They had all of the cardio machines you would want including a variety of crossfit and strength training equipment for a more diverse workout.

The next great amenity is the complimentary breakfast buffet. The quality of the food is one of the highest that we have experience in the Disneyland area. From the taste of everything it was clear that their breakfast is made fresh in house. We loved the Mickey Waffles, the fresh eggs, the tortilla to make breakfast burritos and the fresh fruit options. For an in depth look at their offering, check out our full breakfast buffet review video.

In the lobby you will also find a business centre, a pantry for any of your basic room needs and a bar serving food and drinks in the afternoon.

Value: 4/5

Judging the value of the Cambria Hotel is challenging as it is a new hotel and we're not sure how prices will be affected by the current pandemic. The prices are likely to go up as they start to reach full capacity. That said we can see that this hotel is a great value especially or families or larger groups as rooms can accommodate up to 7 guests between the bunkbeds and pullout couch.

The breakfast adds to the value as it is one that we got excited to go down to because of the quality and variety. On top of that the pool and activities available on property were one of the best in the Disney area so spending time at the hotel is time well spent.

The only real things to keep in mind are the extra costs to stay here. The hotel really isn’t in walking distance of the park, unless you are really ambitious so you will likely be paying for ride sharing or the ART bus to get to and from the park. If you have a car parking is $20 per day or $25 for the vallet option as of February 2020.

Even thought we don’t know where the price will eventually land, this is a terrific hotel to stay at in the Disneyland area. Great rooms, great amenities and kind helpful staff make it easy for us to chose to stay here again. So for value we gave them a 4/5

Overall Rating: 4.125/5

This new hotel has the makings to be one of the nicest places to stay when planning your Disneyland Vacation. …just remember to pack some dish soap and flatware.
