Finding a budget friendly, adult minded hotel close to Disneyland can sometimes be hard. As one of those childless, 30 something Annual Passholders...trust me, I know. I prefer hotels that are sleek and preferably built in the 21st century, have a spacious, relaxing pool area with loads of chairs and have impeccably clean and well appointed rooms with a bright mirror for getting ready and a soft, squishy bed to cosy up in at night. Oh, I forgot to mention...it needs to be CHEAP! I figure, the less I spend on a Disney vacation, the more often I can go, right?

The Hampton Inn & Suites seemed to hit all the marks and then some. The only notable downside was, it's about a 20 minute walk to Disneyland, but the hotel is so reasonably priced a $5-7 Uber or Lyft each way to save my feet seemed like no big deal. Plus, Anaheim's Garden Walk is right across the street, so I'd have ample food options.

"...When booking this hotel, I noticed that we were being charged an extra fee per night for every additional guest in the room..."

Overall Experience: 4/5

Okay, before I go any further, THE STAFF HERE ARE AMAZING!!!!! They are truly the most genuinely friendly hotel staff I have ever met. PERIOD. I was immediately impressed with how much space there was for guests to hang out, and found myself smiling at the little touches that gives this place it’s personality. This hotel has a check in of 3pm and a check out of 11am which is average for the Disneyland Resort area. It’s further than I’d like to walk to get to Disneyland, taking an uber or Lyft cost us between five and seven bucks each way or you can shuttle to the park. All in all, we enjoyed our time here, so we’re giving it a 4/5.

Hotel Amenities: 3.5/5

I LOVED THE POOL AREA!!! There was a lot of room to lounge around and it felt more sophisticated than most of the pools in the area. Since it's on the second floor of the hotel, you don't really notice that it looks out onto the hotel parking lot. That said, you do see the cast parking lot which I'll admit is pretty cool. Seeing the cast members walk from their cars to the shuttles in their Haunted Mansion or Radiator Springs Racers outfits was a fun reminder that you're in the happiest place on earth!

The Fitness Center was great. It overlooked the pool area, had adequate equipment, but my favorite thing (and one of the biggest hotel secrets I like to share) is they have a great water refilling station. So even though I didn't use any of the gym equipment, I made use of that at least 2-3 times a day.

There is no restaurant on site, but they do offer the signature Hampton 'On The House' Breakfast Buffet. I've NEVER come across a human being that doesn't appreciate a nice hotel that boasts a complimentary breakfast...EVER. In fact, many of our clients won't even look at a hotel that doesn't offer a little something in the mornings.

When you're on vacation, it's nice to wake up to a breakfast that someone else has made for you and the best part is, you don't have to hum & haw or argue with the family over what to eat...especially before you've had a chance to get your caffeine kick. But what happens when that 'complimentary buffet' isn't as free as you think? When booking this hotel, I noticed that we were being charged an extra fee per night for every additional guest in the room. That fee seemed to change depending on the nightly cost of the hotel, but I saw it swing between $10-$16/night per guest, and I'm guessing that most of that fee goes towards that 'complimentary' breakfast buffet. The buffet itself was super underwhelming, especially since you're getting charged that extra fee.

Hidden fees are one of my biggest pet peeves when staying at a hotel, so I might have rated them a little higher if this wasn't the case. In the end, I landed on a 3.5/5.

ROOM: 3.75/5

The rooms here are among some of the smallest we’ve stayed in at the Disneyland Resort, but with the high ceilings and the good use of space, they have done a good job of making them feel bigger than they actually are. The rooms are immaculately clean and have a better than average list of in-room amenities, namely the microwave and in-room safe which believe it or not is not standard for a Disneyland Good Neighbor hotel. The bathroom was clean and had an extra tall shower head, a full sized hair dryer and Neutrogena toiletries. The things we didn’t like about this room were the beds are VERY firm and we could clearly hear the conversations from the people in the hallway and from the people in the adjoining room (it was especially awkward when our neighbor was going pee with his bathroom door open). So, we’re giving them a 3.75/5.

Value: 3.5/5

We have seen this hotel listed at a wide range of nightly costs. So the value you are getting really depends on what the cost is compared to other, closer hotels and what kind of stay you are looking for. Many of the hotels that are within a block of Disneyland park might cost approximately the same but are of a lesser quality than this hotel and might just be a motel from the 60s, on the other hand if you’re looking for the same quality, they are probably going to be more expensive.

Here are a couple of things to consider: The Hampton Inn & suites charges $20/night for parking. Plus there is a $4 nightly resort fee. And if you are taking an uber or shuttle, those costs will add up to. In the end, we’re giving this hotel a 3.5/5

Overall Hotel Rating: 3.7/5

This gives the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton an overall rating of 3.7/5. We recommend this hotel to couples and business professionals who are looking for a more sophisticated, budget friendly stay at a Disneyland Good Neighbor hotel, who don't mind a firm bed and taking transportation to & from the park.
